Hitting the Brandywine Wine trail!

A dandy treat - and great way to stock up for the holidays and/or find a just-right present for your favorite oenophile - is taking a wintertime wander along the Brandywine Wine trail.  You'll find delightful wineries in full holiday swing!

Black Walnut Winery is first up, because they're having a Holiday Open House this weekend at both the winery & their Phoenixville store. Get into the spirit of the holidays with wine tastings, complimentary nibbles & LIVE music from 2-5 p.m., plus some dandy sales make purchasing even more alluring!  What better place to take a new unwrapped toy for Toys for Tots - bring one & be rewarded with a complimentary sampling of 5 Black Walnut wines!

"Small but FUN" could describe Kreutz Creek Vineyards, in charming West Grove.  Another winery featuring an open house this weekend!  Visions of chocolate fondue made with Bevan's dark chocolate & Kreutz Creek's Ruby "K" Port are dancing in my head!   The ornaments made out of corks are a total hoot!  And their "every day" wine tastings are anything but everyday!

 

Although Paradocx Vineyards is NOT having a holiday open house this weekend, but it is ringing in the holiday season with its annual tree lighting TOMORROW, Friday Dec 4, at the Landenberg winery.  Carolers, fireside mulled wine & cocoa & S'MORES!  Oh, and drink specials.  Mother Nature seems to be cooperating, with clear skies predicted for tomorrow, bracing but bearable temps for the 7 p.m. tree lighting ceremony!  Sunday, PDX is throwing a wine glass painting workshop at Kennett Design in Kennett Square's Liberty Place.  Paint two wine glasses in two hours!  Pre-registration required.  

While I prefer small & cozy wineries, have read rave reviews of  Penns Woods Winery, a large operation compared to the others.  It's jumping each weekend in December.  Tomorrow's 5th Annual Ugly Sweater Party sold out long ago!  But join up with your sweetie or good friends over Fondue for Two.

 

The Big Daddy of Brandywine vineyards, Chaddsford Winery is having full-blown open houses EVERY weekend in December - yep, including the weekend AFTER Christmas & before New Year's!  Not as snug as the smaller vineyards, its open houses will have their own charms, like featuring vendors, artisans & food trucks each weekend.  (Oh, to be there on 12/20, when the food truck will be the renown The Cow & The Curd!)  


Christmas & the Brandywine Wine trail - a great combination!
